Understanding The Particulars Regarding Abscessed Tooth

While there are many different types of dental symptoms to be concerned with one in particular is something known as an abscessed tooth. In the simplest of terms, and abscess is a kind of infection that is located in or around the tooth root. In many instances this type of condition can be very painful while in other cases it may not be painful at all. This type of condition occurs when the soft tissue located inside the root canal known as the pulp dies and ultimately becomes inflamed.

Swelling Of The Gums

When this condition is left untreated it can present problems for the patient. Perhaps the most common abscessed tooth symptom is a continuous pain located around the tooth itself. Conversely, there are many patients who experience acute and chronic pain when chewing. In other instances swelling of the gums may also be present. The process involves the endodontist first removing bacteria found within the empty canal of the tooth root. The canal is then shaped and filled and ultimately sealed. As a final step a restoration is completed so that the tooth continues to function as any other normal tooth.
