Post-Treatment Care Guidelines For Root-Canal Patients

Having any type of root canal treatment performed can be confusing for those that have never had this type of work done before. That is why it is essential to consider a few simple yet very important post-treatment care guidelines for patients undergoing root canal related work. For example, it is always recommended to avoid eating anything until mouth numbness has completely worn off. This will reduce the chances of accidentally biting your cheek or tongue while eating.

Final Restoration Procedures

It also important to brush and floss on a regular schedule as you normally do. This will help to keep teeth healthy and maintain good oral hygiene through all stages of root canal treatment. Equally good is to avoid biting or chewing on a tooth that has been recently worked on until such time that your regular dentist has been able to perform final restoration procedures. Patients should also know that an opening in a tooth that was restored with temporary filling material can at times result in a thin layer of the material wearing off prior to your next appointment.
