When To Contact Your Endodontist
There are several situations that may require that a patient contact their endodontist right away. Staying in close communication with your dental care professional is one of the best ways to ensure that any treatment or care related healing occurs normally. One case where it may be a good idea to contact an endodontist is if you experience an uneven bite or if a bite simply feels uneven. In addition, if there is a return of the original symptoms the caused you to have treatment in the first place it may be a good idea to make contact.
Visible Swelling Either Outside Or Inside Of The Mouth
Equally important is to contact an endodontic care provider as soon as possible if you develop any allergic reactions to medication that is a part of the post treatment phase of care. This includes anything from hives to rashes and itching. As a note, nausea would not be considered something that is an allergic reaction. Patients should contact their endodontist immediately if they experience visible swelling either outside or inside of the mouth. This is another clear indicator that something is not normal.
Brush And Floss Your Teeth Normally
In terms of post-treatment oral care it is best to avoid eating until all numbness wears off. This will help to ensure that you do not end up biting your cheek or tongue unexpectedly. Post-treatment instructions usually include advising the patient not to bite with the tooth that has been treated until it has been fully restored by your dental care provider. Finally, always be sure to brush and floss your teeth normally but carefully following any type of endodontic treatment. Talk with your endodontist to learn more about recommended guidelines for post-treatment care.
